Gardiner’s World
Once again we have lost out to the reigning champions but the overall performance was good particularly after having to re-shuffle the pack a couple of minutes before kick off when it became clear that Andrew Bagshaw wasn’t going to be able to start the game, was quite encouraging.
I thought we dominated the first half but the thing about it was that we didn't take our chances. I would say that there goalkeeper made some good saves and the one just before the half time was excellent to keep the score at nil - nil. I knew for a fact that if Buckie got a chance or two that they would take them and it would come back to haunt us and that is what came to fruition. It was almost a goal from nothing that turned the game right at the start of the second half. It was a touch of the unexpected by
Ian Murray – it’s not the kind of thing you can plan for and it’s not the kind of move that comes off all that often but you have to give him credit as he is a player that does these kind of things in the game – he saw the chance and took it.
You can understand why the boy Murray is one of the top players in the Highland League because he sees things before everybody else and that is what changed the game for them. I thought we were very unlucky to lose 3-0 because we had chances upon chances but the thing about it is, we didn't take our chances and Buckie did, they had four shots on target and scored with three.
There was a number of good performances in the game Ritchie Singer coming back for his first start and with Stuart McKay & Alex Notman up front I thought on an other day we would have walked away with all three points.
We are waiting to see about Baggy (Andrew Bagshaw, who pulled out injured before the game). We don't know if it is his hernia or if it is his groin. He is away to see a specialist on Tuesday so we will see what happens. We are also hopeful to have Barry Somers & Barrie Stephens back training next week, so that in it’s self will give the squad a boost for the coming games.
We have a trip to Inverness on Saturday and Clach, who have been a bit hot and cold this season, are always a difficult proposition at Grant Street. It gives us a chance to get back on track after the disappointment of getting nothing after playing so well against Buckie.
Thanks for your support,
