SOMERS TIME
Hello and welcome back to Somers Time. It’s been a stressful few weeks for myself after picking up an injury - I have cracked a bone in my foot but should be back in action in a couple of weeks, but saying that I need to be patient too because if you come back too soon you run the risk of worse and longer term injuries as too many players over the years can tell you.
As for on the park, the lads have done really well in our league games with our strikers Kaiser and Eyebrows (Baggy) doing really well. It’s good to see Eyebrows hitting form – It’s just a pity he can’t play Shoot Pontoon as Alex (card shark) Notman will tell you.
As for today’s game, the boys will need to improve 100 per cent to have a chance getting the 3 points against a very strong Buckie team [which we found out to our cost last week. It just shows how far we still have to come to compete for league honours. They are the reigning champions and have set the standard that every team in that league wants to reach. We need to battle for 90 minutes in every game to get to that level, but don’t be in any doubt about it – that is the standard we are aiming for.
As for our trip home from Brora - it was a eventful one with the Shoot Pontoon at the back of the bus where the gaffer lost a few quid to the boys which he was not happy about [well when is he ever happy!!!] - plus I will need to have a whip round for dance lessons for Kaiser and Yogi they were awful, but the thing about it is they think they can dance.
All the best,
